Monochromatic Tempera Painting
Project Description: Students will be creating a tempera painting using different Shades and Tints. Students can choose whatever subject they would like, but they will need to show evidence of understanding of tint and shade mixing and application to their work.
What are Tints and Shades?
FIRST, you will need to practice mixing Shades and Tints. What are shades and tints?
In color theory, a tint is the mixture of a color with white, which increases lightness, while a shade with black, which reduces lightness. A tone is produced either by the mixture of a color with grey, or by both tinting and shading.
