Project Description:
Students will be taking what they learned from the pencil shading practice and now will continue to practice shading but include highlights with white charcoal . Students will be creating smashed self portraits.

Practice Sheet (10 points)
Production:
-Students will start the project by working on the practice sheet (above). We will start the sheet together in class. They will think about and try to create shading on the shapes to make them look 3D.
-Students will create their photo using the school's copier including their face and at least part of their hand. They will draw the contour lines (outline) of their face and hand,
-Students will use the Charcoal and tools appropriately to create the shading within the image.

-Interesting layout of subject.
-Good value transition from dark to light. Texture should match subject (smooth areas should look smooth.).
-Highlights where appropriate..
-Good contrast. Really Dark vs. Really Light Areas
-Image should look balanced
