Minecraft Self Portrait

Project Description:
You will be drawing a picture of yourself using a background knowledge in Minecraft or Pixel images, graphing and symmetry. You will be using colored pencils to add color.

GOALS:
-Drawing looks like you.
-Good proportions. Nothing looks too big or too small. You body should reach almost the top and bottom of your paper.
-Drawing is symmetrical. (mostly)
-Clean lines and boxes. Should not look messy.
-Bright solid colors. None of the colors should look scratchy or messy.

-Overall look of the image should stay boxy. No diagonals or curved lines to stay wit the minecraft or pixel theme.

Symmetry: When you draw a line through an image it is the same on both sides, but appears as a mirror image.

How to start:
-Fold your paper in half to find the middle. (paper should be facing you up and down or portrait.)
-Use a pencil to map out your shapes. Start with the face or the head. Be sure to leave room for hair!
-Work your way down the body. As you work make sure the sizes of the body parts make sense together. Nothing should look too big or too small compared to other parts.
-To stay symmetrical make sure you are counting boxes from the middle when measuring parts.
-When you add color make sure you are coloring in sections with solid colors. Some sections can be lighter than others if you need certain things to stand out. (Color your areas using small circles to get an even solid color.)
